lyrics

"If you can talk then you can breath."
This is the justification given to me
By a girl who's been told her whole life
"Do what they say and no one gets hurt."

The problem is a disconnection
A societal infection
Invading all of those with the
Cleaner air of separation

We've haven't changed we've just
Patted ourselves on the back
Are you afraid of a little spark?
Are you afraid of the dark?

The fact that I know who the shooter was is the exact problem here.
The fact that I know who the shooter was is why it will happen again.
The fact that I know who the shooter was shows they were doing what they're told.
The fact that I know who the shooter was is why this is getting old.

Of course all lives matter. That's not the point. Kids of color are being taught how to speak to the police so they don't get shot. A walk across the Mississippi, in a camp in Tule Lake, on a bus in Montgomery, is why this will happen again.
